Antonio Romano, an associate at Chepenik Trushin LLP, practices in the areas of probate, trust, and guardianship litigation and administration, complex business and commercial litigation, and insurance defense and coverage disputes.
Mr. Romano graduated from Florida State University in 2011 with a B.S. in Finance and minors in Psychology, International Affairs, and Political Science. While at Florida State, Mr. Romano participated in a number of events and organizations, including the logistics committee for Light the Night, an organization benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and one of the only student run chapters in the region. Mr. Romano was also an intern at the Florida Retail Federation, a lobbying firm that advocates on behalf of Florida retailers. While at the Florida Retail Federation, Mr. Romano gained an insider’s perspective to the legislative process through his interaction with legislators, participation in incumbent fundraising events and retail week, attendance at lobbyist team committee meetings, and review of legislation on key issues such as unemployment compensation.
Prior to beginning law school, Mr. Romano was a James Weldon Johnson/Robert H. Waters Fellow, at which time he gained first-hand experience relating to all aspects of law as a career. After completing his fellowship, Mr. Romano attended the University of Miami School of Law. In his time as a student, Mr. Romano was a judicial intern for the Honorable Magistrate Judge John J. O’Sullivan, which allowed for him to hone his legal research and writing skills, and provided a practical application of the law through the observation of attorneys’ advocacy skills in the courtroom. Mr. Romano also participated in the School of Law’s Investor Rights clinic, which included all aspects of Financial Industry Regulatory Authority arbitration proceedings and included an educational component that culminated into a full three panel arbitration hearing. Mr. Romano also enhanced his advocacy skills through the School of Law’s Litigation Skills Program, which involved pre-trial and trial advocacy training leading to a final trial in front of a sitting judge and jury. Additionally, Mr. Romano took part in the London Olympics Exchange program, where a group of law students from around the nation were accompanied by a professor of international dispute resolution throughout Greece and Italy, and accompanied by a professor of international sales law in London during the Olympic Games. He was also a member of the Business Law Review and a student member of the Spellman-Hoeveler American Inns of Court, which he joined as an attorney upon his admission to The Florida Bar.
Mr. Romano joined Chepenik Trushin, LLP as a law clerk and transitioned to an associate after his admission to The Florida Bar. In his time as a member of the Chepenik Trushin team, he has represented insurance companies from initiation of litigation forward, including comprehensive contract review and analysis, as well as extensive strategic negotiation and litigation strategy. He has also assisted in complex multi-million dollar probate and trust litigation and administration matters at the state, federal and appellate level. In addition, he has assisted in a number of complex business and commercial litigation matters at the state and appellate level.
Antonio Romano is a current member of the Dade County Bar Association's Board of Directors, serving as the GALLA liaison. As a recent nominee to the prestigious Florida Bar Leadership Academy, he hopes to strengthen the DCBA's presence and ties to the legal community throughout the state, and capitalize on the diverse spirit of Miami. Antonio's goal is to spearhead a diversity initiative to propose and implement specific solutions to reverse lagging advancement and opportunities in the legal community for minority, female, and LGBT individuals both locally and statewide. His leadership and involvement include serving in his second term as President of his Business Network International Chapter, and active involvement in the University of Miami School of Law's Partnership for Professionalism, as well as the Spellman-Hoeveler American Inns of Court. Additionally, he previously served as the Volunteer Committee Chair for the GLLN Gala, benefitting local LGBT organizations. Antonio Romano, J.D.
